Wiring Up Spotlights with NEW wiring/relay
Earlier models of Pajero have white wires to the headlamp connector and can be wired as per the instructions enclosed with most common lighting/connection kits.
Basically the Spotlights can be wired in this standard way, which will work the main beam 'latch' but may not work the 'flash'. The information below is for connecting Spotlights to later Pajero models (possibly 93 on), so that both 'flash' and 'latch' will work on your axillary lamps as on the main headlamps.
1) Remove the connector from the rear of the n/s headlamp assy.
2) Notice that the connector has three wires, Red, Red/White, and Red/Blue.
3) The relay has four terminals, which will be used as follows: one to the battery +12v, one to the Spot lamps, one to ground, and one to the switching point (headlamp circuit).
4) Connect the relay to the battery +12v and Spot lamps as shown on the instructions.
5) This is where the connection differs.........
6) Instead of connecting the terminal from the relay to ground, it should be connected to the red/blue wire connection of the Headlamp connector.
7) The other connection from the relay should be connected to the red wire of the Headlamp connector.
The circuit should now work correctly on the main beam, both flash and latch.
The connections to the Headlamp wires can be done in whichever way you prefer, either soldered or scotch-locked, although soldering and heat-shrinking is the safest and most advisable option.
